Let us understand what is Cyclone Mocha? Cyclone Mocha is developing in the Bay of Bengal. According to meteorologists, the intensity of Cyclone Mocha will not be very high as it is developing in the center of Bay of Bengal. However, IMD issued a warning before this Cyclone Mocha had the potential to intensify into a very dangerous cyclonic storm.

IMD believes that the cyclonic storm will originate in the central Bay of Bengal, so the distance to travel is not much more than that of the cyclone originating in the Gulf of Thailand. Earlier it was predicted that the cyclonic storm Mocha would hit the coast of Orissa and West Bengal. But now it is being said that it may change its direction and it is likely to move towards Myanmar.

IMD in its official statement has predicted depression till May 8. It is also predicted to intensify and develop into a cyclonic storm and move northwards towards the Bay of Bengal. This will be the first cyclone of 2023 this year and Cyclonic storm may be like Asni (2022). The name of this cyclone is suggested by Yaman. And it is named after Mocha, a port city on the Red Sea coast.

Talking about cyclone, it is a structure that arises around warm air with low atmospheric pressure. When warm air rises in the sea, a condition of low air pressure is formed in that area. Apart from this, the center of the cyclone which is a calm area, which we call the eye of the cyclone. Cyclone is called as hurricane n America , Typhoon in Philippines and Japan and in Australia it is called Willy- Willies. While in the Indian Ocean it is known as cyclone.

There are two types of cyclones mainly tropical cyclones and temperate cyclones. Tropical cyclones mainly originate between 5° to 15° degree latitudes while temperate cyclones originate between 30° to 65° degree latitudes in the belt of westerly winds.
